First Baptist Academy is dedicated to the preparation of leaders. A rigorous academic program, coupled with the necessary encouragement and mentorship to help students explore their creative dreams, makes First Baptist one of the most successful private schools in Houston.
First Baptist is one of several enthusiastically Christian schools in the area that cultivates a Christian character and sense of responsibility in each of its students while facilitating their academic growth. Not only are students challenged to develop fundamental problem-solving and critical skills, they are also encouraged to give back to the community and support others in their actions and prayers.
As a private Christian school, First Baptist Academy is consistently ranked among the best high school and college prep schools in the area. 90 percent of students go on to attend the top high school of their choice, and 100 percent of students are admitted to at least their second choice school. First Baptist is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and enrolls its students in the National Society for the Gifted and Talented (NSGT) and the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). At least 25 percent of its seventh grade students have qualified to participate in Duke University’s Talent Identification Program, taking the SAT during their seventh grade year.
Athletics and visual arts programs are specialty areas at First Baptist Academy. Students are encouraged to participate and display good sportsmanship as players learn to work together as a team. The Academy offers soccer, football, basketball, cheerleading, track and cross country, among other sports. Unlike other Galleria area private middle schools, all students are exposed to the visual arts, whether it’s performing or fine arts, in order to learn that leadership is important whether they are on stage or behind the scenes.
Teachers and staff at First Baptist Academy provide a sound framework for lifelong decision-making for their students. First Baptist Academy’s highly qualified faculty and staff pursue professional development opportunities throughout the year as they seek to provide students with their very best. This is just one of the many factors that contribute to the academy’s reputation as one of the best private middle schools in the Houston area.

|Did you know that physical education promotes academic learning?|

Physical health allows students to function even better in the classroom. A good cardiovascular system developed from regular exercise promotes excellent blood and oxygen circulation, meaning that more nutrients circulate throughout the body, including the brain. This circulation produces longer attention spans during classes, allowing for better concentration and retention.
